The Women of Industrial and Systems Engineering (WISyE), a newly launched registered student organization (RSO), held a tea meet-and-greet, marking the beginning of what promises to be a transformative community for women in the department.

"This meet-and-greet social was designed to motivate, encourage, and empower women ISyE students while providing professional development opportunities," said Nicoly Myles, Director of the Center for Academics, Success, and Equity (CASE).

The event is just the first of many planned initiatives to build a supportive and inclusive environment for women in the ISyE department.

Reese Baker and Savannah Elizondo Vega, a few of the students driving forces behind WISyE, shared their excitement about the event and the organization’s future.

"This is the kickoff for building something truly special with WISyE. We're organizing elections, and it's inspiring to see everyone come together to start shaping this new community," Savannah said.

Reese added, "It’s all about raising awareness and bringing together the incredible community of ISyE women on campus. These events are a great first step in uniting us and getting the organization up and running."

One of the major highlights of the academic year will be the Women’s History Month celebration in March 2025, featuring a seminar series with industry leaders.

With a successful first event and a strong calendar of activities ahead, WISyE is poised to grow rapidly, providing women in ISyE with invaluable professional development, networking opportunities, and a space where they can thrive.

The organization is committed to empowering women in the field, helping them build connections, develop leadership skills, and make lasting impacts within ISyE and beyond.
