Connecting ISyE Students with Alumni Who Inspire, Guide, and Empower

The MentIE Program is the flagship mentoring initiative of the Center for Academics, Success, & Engagement (CASE), designed to connect current Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISyE) students with accomplished ISyE alumni. Through meaningful one-on-one mentoring relationships, students gain professional guidance, career insight, leadership development, and a lifelong connection to the Georgia Tech ISyE community.

MentIE is more than a mentoring program—it is a community built on shared experiences, intentional conversations, and a commitment to helping the next generation of Yellow Jacket engineers thrive. Throughout the academic year, mentors and students engage in structured conversations, networking opportunities, leadership development experiences, and professional learning that prepare students to confidently enter the workforce and make an immediate impact.

Whether you are exploring career paths, preparing for internships, developing leadership skills, or building your professional network, MentIE provides the support and connections to help you achieve your goals.

Your MentIE Journey

MentIE is more than a one-year mentoring program. It is a three-year developmental experience designed to help students grow personally, professionally, and as future leaders. Each year builds upon the previous one, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become career-ready Industrial and Systems Engineering professionals.

Year A: Professional Foundations

Develop the professional habits and interpersonal skills that serve as the foundation for academic and career success. Students focus on communication, professionalism, self-awareness, personal responsibility, and building effective mentoring relationships. Students will learn about the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.

Year B: Career Readiness

Prepare for a successful transition from college to career by developing a professional brand, refining career goals, strengthening networking skills, enhancing résumés, practicing interviewing, and building a personalized career portfolio.

Year C: Leadership & Team Effectiveness

Grow as a collaborative leader by strengthening teamwork, emotional intelligence, communication, conflict resolution, trust-building, and organizational effectiveness while preparing to lead in diverse professional environments. Students will learn about the Five Dysfunctions of a Team.

Together, these three developmental experiences prepare students to graduate with the confidence, leadership skills, professional network, and career readiness needed to make an immediate impact in the engineering profession.

Become a Mentor

Make a Lasting Impact on the Next Generation of Yellow Jackets

MentIE offers ISyE alumni a meaningful opportunity to give back by investing in the success of current students. By sharing your experiences, challenges, and career journey, you help students navigate their own path while strengthening the Georgia Tech ISyE community.

Mentors serve as trusted role models and advocates who encourage students to grow personally and professionally. Rather than providing all the answers, mentors ask thoughtful questions, share real-world experiences, and help students discover their own solutions.

Through MentIE, you will also reconnect with Georgia Tech, expand your professional network with fellow alumni, and become part of a vibrant community committed to developing future engineering leaders.

Benefits of Becoming a Mentor

Your experience can make a lasting difference—not only in a student's career, but in their confidence, leadership, and future.

  • Inspire and influence the next generation of ISyE professionals.
  • Share your professional experiences and leadership insights.
  • Develop meaningful relationships with talented Georgia Tech students.
