Mr. Boratto is an accomplished entrepreneurial executive who currently manages his family office. His previous business experience includes executive roles across top tier companies valued for driving multi-million dollar new business growth and investment programs in the Technology and Health Care and Life Sciences Industries by leading investment, strategy, new business development and sales and marketing teams. Previously he provided advisory services in the Health Care, Life Sciences and Information Technology industries. Services include: Interim and long term Senior Management roles, Corporate and Business Development, New Ventures, M&A and Strategic Partnering, Due Diligence and Fund Raising activities.
Prior to his advisory roles, Mr. Boratto was the segment leader for IBM responsible for new business opportunities and the creation of strategic relationships (including equity positions) with venture funded emerging technology companies in the Healthcare and Life Sciences arena. This included identifying candidates that fit the inorganic growth strategy for the business unit and spearheading the deal execution. He also oversaw the investments and the relationship with key IBM strategic Venture Capital funds and the extended Healthcare and Life Sciences Venture community. In addition, he was the Executive Director of the IBM Health Care and Life Sciences Advisory Council which periodically brought together various leaders from the Health Care and Life Sciences Ecosystem to identify and discuss emerging trends, insights and points of view on issues of immediate concern to healthcare stakeholders and formulates a strategic direction.
His previous positions at IBM included business development, sales and strategy formulation roles for the Healthcare and Life Sciences business units where he played an integral role in leading multidisciplinary teams in the execution and over achievement of the business objectives set by the business units.
Mr. Boratto joined IBM through the acquisition of The Wilkerson Group where as a senior engagement manager directed engagements for leading pharmaceutical, biotechnology and venture capital clients focusing on evaluating emerging technologies, business development, due diligence analysis, corporate strategic planning, and developing information technology strategies.
Prior to joining The Wilkerson Group, Mr. Boratto worked for Tenix in Australia and Merck & Co. in the US. At Tenix, he was a member of the privatization team that restructured operations and then he led an ERP software implementation. While at Merck & Co., Mr. Boratto managed several projects of increased responsibility in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology operations areas aimed at performance improvement and cost cutting initiatives that led to substantial cost savings.
Mr. Boratto holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. In addition he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Executive program at Columbia Business School and he is a graduate of the Wharton School Management Program from the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Boratto is a dual citizen of the US and Europe and he is a native Italian speaker with a working knowledge of Spanish
